“Streetheart” began during the COVID-19 pandemic in 2022, when many people were affected by fear and negative feelings. I wanted to give people a small, unexpected positive surprise in the form of a heart inscribed with the words “Love in the Time of Corona.” It was a reminder to be kind to one another and to show love and compassion. The design was inspired by the “Do Not Disturb” signs you occasionally hang on hotel door handles. It also included a small reference to the book Love in the Time of Cholera by Gabriel García Márquez.
They are 3D printed from a material called PLA, which is made from various plant-based materials and is biodegradable.
I placed about 400 hearts in total around Copenhagen. They disappeared very quickly, without a trace. I hope people took them home with them.
